Terms and Conditions

The Thrive:SG Photo Competition (the “Competition”) is organised by The Majurity Trust Limited (“TMT”). By participating in the Competition, the participant agrees to accept the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Entry / Eligibility

  • The Competition is open to all Singapore citizens and residents of Singapore. The eligible participant must be an individual and agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. Non compliance with these terms and conditions may disqualify the participant from the Competition, and any prizes won may be forfeited.
  • Entry to this Competition is free.
  • Participants below the age of 18 must obtain consent from his/her parent or legal guardian before participating in the Competition, and shall submit proof of such consent, if required by the TMT. This consent shall imply that the parent or legal guardian agrees to the Terms and Conditions set out herein.
  • TMT reserves the sole and absolute discretion to exclude or disqualify any Participant and/ or entry from the Competition.

2.  Details about Competition Categories and Deadlines

  •  The Competition will have two categories, namely Open Category and Facebook Category.
  • The closing deadline for submission of entries is 12.00 pm, Singapore time on 30th November 2018. Entries received after the closing deadline will not be accepted by the TMT.
  • Open Category: All entries must be submitted online to majurity.sg/thrivesgsubmission
  • Facebook Category: All posts must be made public during the Competition period  (1st October to 30th November). Participants should tag their photos to TMT’s Facebook account @majurity.sg and hashtag #thrivesg.

3.  Submission Criteria

  • Each Participant can submit a maximum of 3 Photographs per Category.
  • Participants may submit entries for both the Open Category and Facebook Category.
  • Photograph entries submitted must be the Participant’s original work. Submissions must have been taken within the last (1) year before the date of entry. It must be taken in Singapore.
  • Participants can submit only original photographs which had not (i) previously won any photography competition (ii) been published, exhibited or submitted to another competition that is currently underway, and (iii) is not intended to be used for any commercial purposes or an infringement of any intellectual property rights of a third party.
  • The photograph(s) must not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of TMT, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
  • The entries should be complete with a caption. The caption must be complete and accurate, sufficient to convey the circumstances in which the photograph was taken. Disguising or misrepresenting the origin of your content is cause for disqualification.
  • Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the photographs is not allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, and/or colour correction is acceptable, as is minor cropping.
  • Each photograph entry must be submitted digitally in JPEG format and be at least 3 megabytes in size. The longest side of the photograph must be at least 2000 pixels.
  • Watermarks, borders or signatures on photographs are unacceptable.

4.  Shortlisted Participant

  • Shortlisted Participants will be notified by email and may also be required to submit the raw or original unprocessed photograph for inspection. Participants who fail to submit the photographs as required may not be eligible to win any prize.

5.  Judging

  • TMT reserves the right not to award any prizes, if in their opinion, none of the eligible entries meet the required standard for that prize or prizes
  • Under the Open Category, 6 winning entries will be awarded;  1st, 2nd, 3rd and 3 merit prizes. The decision of the judges shall be final. No correspondence will be entertained regarding the judges’ decision.
  • Under the Facebook Category, 4 winning entries will be awarded prizes. The winning entries will be determined by the number of likes on Facebook.

6.  Winners

  • Each eligible Participant will stand a chance to win one prize for 1 of the 2 Categories.
  • All prizes shall be collected in Singapore on the actual day of the Prize Presentation Ceremony. Where prizes are unclaimed, TMT reserves the right to forfeit the applicable prize.
    If unable to attend the Prize Presentation Ceremony, the winners may appoint another person to receive the prize on his/her behalf.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and no cash equivalent will be offered.
  • TMT reserves the right to change, add or substitute the prizes. Prizes which are not collected shall be disposed by TMT as it deems fit.
  • Winners may be interviewed by TMT and the media. All winners consent to public disclosure of their names and the results of the Competition.

7.  TMT’s Rights

  • All prizes shall be collected in Singapore on the actual day of the Prize Presentation Ceremony. Where prizes are unclaimed, TMT reserves the right to forfeit the applicable prize.
  • TMT reserves the right to request that the winner provides proof of identity and age and/or eligibility (if required) in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of TMT.  In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
  • TMT reserves the right to change, add or substitute the prizes.  Prizes which are not collected shall be disposed by TMT as it deems fit.
  • TMT reserves the right to revise these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice being given.
  • The Participant grants TMT a non-exclusive, royalty-free and transferable right to use any Materials submitted for the Competition (including without limitation, to store, reproduce, publish, publicly display, print, modify, communicate or distribute any Materials submitted for the Competition in any media format and any media channels without obtaining further prior permission and as deemed fit by TMT. The Participant retains full copyright of the Materials entered for the Competition. Where any Materials of a Participant is published or displayed by TMT, the Participant will be credited. The Materials may be used for the following purposes:

i. Operating, administering and promoting the Competition, before and after the Competition has ended;
ii. Displaying the Participant’s Materials on the Competition website and/or TMT and sponsors’ websites;
iii. Issuing a media release or making media pitches with Materials regarding the winning entries; and/or
iv. Usage of the Participant’s Materials during TMT’s roadshows, exhibitions and in publications both printed and online, for purposes which are non-profit in nature, such as for the promoting issues in Singapore.

9.  Liability

  • TMT will exercise care in handling the entries or Materials submitted but will not be liable for any loss of or damage to the entries or Materials howsoever caused.
  • TMT shall not be liable for any loss or damage in connection with the Competition, or any prize., except any liability that cannot be excluded by law. The Participant shall assume all risks in respect of loss, injury, damage or liability which may arise as a result of or in connection to the Participant’s participation in the Competition and shall not hold TMT responsible.
  • The Participant shall defend, fully indemnify and hold TMT and its employees and agents harmless from and against:

i. All liabilities, damages, losses, costs (including legal costs on a full indemnity basis) and expenses arising from any claims, demands, actions, proceedings, judgment or execution which TMT, its employees or agents may suffer or incur from or in connection to the Participant’s participation in the Competition; and
ii. Any claims, demands, actions, proceedings, judgment or execution, arising from infringement or alleged infringement of any copyright or other intellectual property right or violation of confidentiality in the Materials produced, reproduced or submitted for the Competition.

  • In the event of any disparity in the interpretation of these Terms and Conditions, TMT’s version will prevail. Should any dispute arise in connection with the Competition or these Terms and Conditions, the decision of TMT is final.
